Before Your Pet Photography Session

First things first: I create sessions that are fun, stress-free, and tailored to you and your pet. Cookie-cutter? Nope. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. That’s just not what we do here at Ride the Sky Equine Photography.

Here’s how it works:

1. The Initial Phone Call

Yes, we’re going to chat on the phone. I know, groundbreaking, right?

But trust me, hearing you gush about your pet is way more efficient (and fun) than endless emails. This quick 5–10 minute call helps me get to know you, your pet, and your goals.

Plus, it’s my favorite part—who doesn’t love hearing a pet owner brag about their furry best friend?

2. Booking Your Session

After our chat, you’ll sign some paperwork and pay your reservation retainer. Boom—your spot on my coveted calendar is locked in. Heads up: dates fill up fast, especially in fall and spring.

3. The Creative Consult

Before the big day, we’ll meet in person for about 60 minutes. This consult is where the magic happens. We’ll plan every detail:

  • Your goals and vision for the session.
  • Outfits, because yes, I’ll help you figure out what to wear if you’re stepping into a few shots.
  • Your pet’s personality, quirks, and most photogenic angles.
  • The perfect location—whether it’s your backyard, a favorite park, or by the lake.

By the end, you’ll feel fully prepped and ready for an incredible session.

The Day of Your Pet Photography Session

This day is all about you and your pet. Here’s what you can expect:

  • No Stress Allowed: Nope. Just nope. With a lifetime of being surrounded by animals and more than a decade of experience photographing pets (and more than a few shenanigans along the way), I know how to handle any temperament—hyper pups, shy kitties, or pets who would rather nap than pose.
  • Comfort and Fun: I’ll keep the vibe light and relaxed. You’ll be so busy laughing and enjoying the moment, you’ll forget there’s even a camera around.
  • Posing Pro: Don’t know what to do with your hands? No worries, that’s my job. I’ll guide you and your pet every step of the way to make sure you both look amazing.
  • Pet Whisperer Energy: Whether your pet is feeling playful or grumpy, I know how to bring out their unique personality and capture it beautifully.

The goal? To create emotional, jaw-dropping images that make everyone who visit your house, stop and say, “Wow”! .

After Your Pet Photography Session

Once your session wraps up, the fun really begins. Next up: your design consult.

Here’s what happens:

  1. You’ll see your stunning images for the first time. (Tissues might be required. You’ve been warned.)
  2. Together, we’ll design custom photographic art pieces tailored to your home or office.
  3. You’ll choose from options like wall art, heirloom albums, and other keepsakes that showcase your pet’s one-of-a-kind spirit.

Forget about thumb drives collecting dust in a drawer. My goal is to create art you’ll treasure forever—pieces that in the infamous words of Marie Kondo, “spark joy” every time you see them.

Why Choose Ride the Sky Equine Photography?

At Ride the Sky, I’m not just snapping pics.  I tell stories—your pet’s story, your story, and the bond you share. Whether it’s capturing their silly quirks, their soulful eyes, or their joyful zoomies, I’m here to turn those moments and memories that mean the most to you into photographic art.

Betsy Bird spends her days doing insane things to make animals look at her. Clearly, she’s desperate for attention. When she’s not acting like a total goofball, she’s mentoring photographers, teaching the business side of photography, wrangling teenagers, or hanging with Derby, the new puppy who is currently training to be the new office assistant (jury’s still out on whether “chewing cords” counts as professional development).

Betsy is an award-winning equine and pet photographer based in Chattanooga, TN, and the current President of PPETN and President-Elect of TNPPA. Ride the Sky Equine Photography serves clients across Tennessee, North Georgia, and beyond.
