Exciting News: My Role on the TNPPA Board of Directors
Well, here’s some exciting news from yours truly!
Not only do I get to spend my days capturing the beauty of horses through my lens at Ride the Sky Equine Photography, but now I’m also expanding my role in the photography community. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been elected to serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association (TNPPA).
This isn’t my first rodeo (pun totally intended) with TNPPA, though. This will be my second year serving on the Board, but this year, I get to take on the role of Secretary. If you’re wondering if I’m ready for all the note-taking and organizing, the answer is…maybe. But hey, if I can get a horse to cooperate in front of a camera, surely I can handle a few meeting minutes, right?
What is the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association?
For those of you who don’t know, TNPPA is the go-to organization for photographers in Tennessee who are serious about their craft.
Whether you’re an established pro or just starting out, TNPPA helps elevate your photography business to new heights. Think of it as the VIP club for photographers who are passionate about growth, education, and, let’s be honest, making their businesses thrive.
I’m honored to be part of such a dynamic group. The TNPPA Board of Directors works hard to foster a community where photographers can come together, share their knowledge, and push each other to reach new goals. It’s all about elevating the industry, and I’m excited to be part of that mission.
Why This Matters to Me
Being involved with TNPPA isn’t just about adding another title to my resume. (Though, let’s be real, it’s a pretty cool title!) It’s about giving back to the photography community that has supported me throughout my journey.
Serving on the Board allows me to contribute to the growth and excellence of photographers across the state. It’s a role I take seriously, even if I can’t resist making a joke or two along the way.
So, here’s to another year of helping the photography industry thrive—and maybe even getting a few horses to look my way while I’m at it.
Stay tuned for more updates from the world of Ride the Sky Equine Photography and TNPPA. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings!
Betsy Bird, Cr. Photog., CPP, of Ride the Sky Equine Photography spends her days doing insane things to make animals look at her. Clearly, she’s desperate for attention. Outside of acting like a total goofball, she invests in growing her business, mentoring photographers, dealing with her teenagers' angst, and hanging with Nitro, the best dog ever.
Betsy has earned her Photographic Craftsman degree from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) which honors photographers who contribute to the photographic industry through speaking, mentoring, and publishing. Betsy is also a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) with PPA. The CPP designation is held by fewer than 2,500 photographers nationwide and is a hallmark of consistency, technical skill, artistry, and professionalism.
Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee (PPETN) and the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association (TNPPA). She is also a professional member of the Equine Photographers Network (EPN).
Betsy's award-winning work has been featured in a variety of publications and is found throughout homes and stables in the United States. She is also the co-author of the book, Equine & Equestrian Photography Poses that Sell: The Ultimate Guide to Posing Horses & Humans. She has also been featured on Scenic Trend, the Profitable Photographer Podcast, The Business Animal Podcast, Chatter Magazine, Cowgirls with Cameras Podcast, the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the Chattanoogan, and the Focal Points Podcast to name a few.
